The safety of our members, staff, and the Abbeville community we support is extremely important to us at HopeSouth.

Credit unions were created with the idea of people helping people. Our industry’s founding principle is the guiding light of HopeSouth during the challenges of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). For nearly 50 years, HopeSouth has been committed to providing financial hope to our members. To further support our promise, we pledge to you that we will help ease the financial stress brought on by COVID-19. We are making this pledge so that you can focus on your family, health and other important responsibilities during this challenging time.

If you have been financially impacted by COVID-19 please reach out to us and ask for help. Be proactive in seeking assistance with your finances as soon as you know there is a problem. In doing so, we at HopeSouth will show you your options and in the long term can help protect your financial health and your credit score.

Below are updates to how we will operate as we enter this unprecedented time:

Based on the latest guidance from health officials, and to keep both our members and employees safe, HopeSouth has made the decision to close our lobby. Our drive-thru continues to operate during normal business hours.

To better serve you and keep traffic moving, we are separating traffic between the ATM and Drive-Thru. As of March 31st, you’ll notice a sign beside the main HopeSouth sign to say HopeSouth ATM entrance.

We have closed off the parking lot so that members using the ATM can leave through the ATM entrance.

For Drive-Thru traffic, you’ll notice a sign beside the Piggly Wiggly sign directing you to the HopeSouth Drive-Thru entrance.

To make this easy, we have used traffic cones to close off and separate the Drive-Thru traffic to use the upper and lower entrances from the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.

If you need immediate assistance, please know that we continue to operate the credit union fully staffed to serve you during this time. Below you can find a list of phone numbers and email addresses to reach us quickly:

COVID-19 Skip-a-Payment

HopeSouth is here and we want to help you face any uncertainty that comes your way. We’ve got options available; including the ability to skip a loan payment.

Don’t get scammed

No question – the past few weeks have been insane as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We’re seeing things unfold that most of us haven’t experienced before. Entire cities have shut down, people are being quarantined, and credit unions are being forced to find different ways to serve members. While we’ve seen the best in humanity from Dollar General setting aside the first hour they’re open to serve the elderly to multiple restaurants providing meals for kids who are out of school, we’ve also seen scammers who are exploiting people’s Coronavirus fears.

You’re Money is SAFE at HopeSouth
Along with the mad dash to buy all the toilet paper stores can stock, some members have asked about the need to withdraw cash from the credit union.

The fact is, the need for cash withdrawals during this crisis has no basis in fact. Unlike overextended banks that caused the Great Recession, the current financial crisis was caused by the reaction to the Coronavirus outbreak, not a systemic banking problem. There is a perception and rumors churning within social media that there could be an issue with the credit or debit systems, but there is no validity to that concern. Putting it under your pillow at home is not safe. It’s more prudent to take it as you need it.

What You Should Know About the Stimulus Checks

Over the weekend, President Donald Trump signed a $2 trillion economic relief plan set to provide aid to millions of Americans impacted by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. The package includes stimulus payments for individuals, additional unemployment coverage, student loan relief, and more.

But, what does that mean for you?
