On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the HopeSouth Annual Meeting we honored 45-year board member and friend of HopeSouth, Mary A. Smith. Mary was made Board Member Emeritus, and received a plaque as a tribute to her long-time service and dedication.
Mary has served the HopeSouth Board of Directors with distinction for the past 45 years. She has served in a variety of board roles including secretary, credit committee, vice president, and served longest as board chair, 1984 – 2011.
Mary is an accomplished and active member of the community. To name just a few of her accomplishments, she is a member of New Faith Presbyterian Church where she is an ordained elder, teaches Sunday school, and in 1992 served as Commissioner of the General Assembly PCUSA. She currently serves on committees for Habitat for Humanity, Abbeville Area Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary, and the Nominating Committee for Trinity Presbyterian.
We are so proud of Mary and admire her continued energy and passion for those around her and the Abbeville community.
